Every biweekly Friday payroll runs on one of two cycles. Cycle A pays 27 times in 2026 and cycle B pays 26 times, counting paydays moved to the business day before a weekend or bank holiday. The Friday, January 1, 2027 payday of 2027 lands on Thursday, December 31, 2026, so it counts in 2026. Three-paycheck months: cycle A January, July and December; cycle B May and October.

Which cycle am I on?

Enter any date you were paid. Biweekly Fridays repeat every 14 days, so one payday tells you the whole year.

For example, a payday of Friday, January 9, 2026 means cycle B.

How many biweekly paydays are there in 2026?

Cycle A has 27 paydays in 2026 and cycle B has 26, when a payday on a weekend or bank holiday is paid the business day before. Without that move, cycle A has 26 Fridays and cycle B has 26.

Which months have 3 paychecks in 2026 if I am paid biweekly?

On cycle A: January, July and December. On cycle B: May and October. Your cycle is A if you were paid on Jan 2, 2026 and B if you were paid on Jan 9, 2026.

How do I know which biweekly cycle I am on?

Take any Friday you were paid. If it is an even number of weeks from Friday, January 2, 2026, you are on cycle A; otherwise cycle B. The checker on this page does it for you. For paydays on another weekday, use the calculator on the home page.

What happens when a biweekly payday falls on a holiday?

Most employers pay the business day before, because direct deposit settles through the Federal Reserve, which is closed on bank holidays. Some pay the business day after. Your state may set the rule, so check your state's payday law.
